Luisa Ortega is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of California. As an active CPA, Luisa is held to a high standard of professional conduct and is required to stay up to date on tax law and accounting principles changes. Luisa is enrolled in continuing education throughout the year, ensuring that her skill set stays relevant, efficient and effective.

With a customer service background, Luisa understands that the fundamental goal is to provide value and service to you, the client. She finds great joy in listening to and understanding your goals, and assisting you in reaching them. Although we use technology to communicate and share, the human touch is never lost. 

Background

Luisa Ortega launched her own accounting practice in June of 2022, with the goal of creating a direct and streamlined connection between CPA and client. This level of attentive care means your needs as a client are always addressed with care and in a timely manner. 

Prior to launching her own practice, Luisa worked as a Staff Account for a local, well established Palm Desert CPA firm. During her time there (January 2018- May 2022), Luisa worked hand in hand with the four CPA Partners, bookkeeping and administration staff. Luisa completed 5 tax seasons with the team, each with its unique sets of challenges and lessons. 

Her daily tasks as a Staff Accountant were pretty consistent with her daily tasks now as a CPA business owner – communicating with clients, the IRS and FTB, managing client’s Quickbooks/Quickens and ensuring the books were up to date, preparing financial reports for management use, running projections for the upcoming tax season, preparing tax returns and fiduciary accountings, and generally solving any pressing matters as they arise.

Prior to her time as a Staff Accountant, Luisa worked as an in-house bookkeeper for a well known family restaurant in Rancho Mirage, California. It was here that Luisa developed her love for a clean set of books. There was nothing more rewarding than coming in each morning to record all the prior day sales, new vendor invoices, reconciling bank accounts, and working on the financial reports for the management and owner’s use. It was here that Luisa learned the importance of having a Cash Flow Forecast and Running Budget to keep the business going and growing – this is truly how long term success and sustainability is achieved. 

During this time, and before, Luisa dabbled in many artistic and creative pursuits that not only enlightened her life but also added some very important skillsets to her portfolio including: the importance of customer service and communication, a proficiency with hardware technology and a wide gamut of software and apps, personal budgeting and goal setting, to name a few.

As you can imagine, Luisa spends a large amount of her time working on tending to and growing her accounting practice. However, when not at her computer, you will find Luisa enjoying the beautiful Coachella Valley leisurely lifestyle, practicing Bikram and Ashtanga yoga, cooking delicious plant-based meals, and washing and detailing her endlessly dirty Rubicon Jeep.
